Lights! Tile! Action!
The tile guy has laid tile on our master closet floor and our old pantry/new baking nook. It's going to be so beautiful, I can hardly wait.
Look at the attention to detail here -- he was so ticked when he learned that some of this tile would be under some cabinets! Sorry...
This will be the "landing area" off the garage with pantry and a spot to hang coats and take off muddy boots and such.

This is the other side of what will be the "mud room"/ baking nook. Double oven will go on the left side of that short wall on the right side. You'll see!
Was master closet, now will be laundry + closet.
Can't wait to see the grout go in this week, or soon...
Slight hitch -- with the monsoon rains we had on Monday, we took a little water in through the temporary door area, and they're talking about replacing the floorboards there. We may have an opportunity to move a floor vent as well, because it's right there and if they're tearing it up, well, why not. I hate to complain about a tiny bit of water damage when most of our city has seriously wet basements and carpet and bedding and more, but we have the material and I think they can make it right.
We also discovered a bit by accident that our main sump pump was not working -- understood that by the beeeep that said the auxiliary pump had kicked in. Thanks to brother-in-law for coming over to help us fix that.
And to the subject of flooding, Jim and I volunteered an hour or so today, on our anniversary, schlepping heavy-ass sandbags, trying to help divert the Mighty Yahara from people's back doors. I hope it helps. Photos of our "dirty" selves and then at Sal's for our anniversary (23 years!) pizza.
Progress is happening and it's so fun to watch it, bit by bit. Lucky, lucky me, lucky us. Thanks for reading!
